Monday’s performance tests mark the start of the Eagles’ preparations for the 2023/24 season. Before then, though, new head coach Dino Toppmöller and board member for sport Markus Krösche addressed the media at a press conference on Friday, answering questions on…
… Toppmöller’s coaching principles:
Dino Toppmöller: “I’m someone who’s very communicative; an affable person with clear ideas and beliefs. Getting emotional from time to time is a demand I set myself. Emotions are part and parcel of things, even if there are certain moments that require a cool head as a coach. I set great store in gelling and working together as a group. A certain level of respect is important to me. We need to be aware what’s appropriate and what’s not.”
… Frankfurt and Eintracht:
Markus Krösche: “I didn’t need to prepare him for Eintracht much. He was here as a player and has followed the development of the past few years. He knows what sets Eintracht apart. We obviously held plenty of talks about our approach, our long-term aims, what we stand for and much more besides.”
Toppmöller: “The infrastructure is at a very high level, not only for the Bundesliga but Europe too. There’s a certain level of excitement, both inside and outside the club. Everyone’s raring to go for the new season. We want to attack and continue our positive development as a team. People here live for passion and their identification with the club. Everyone wants to get started right away.”

… objectives:
Krösche: “Our aim is obviously to play in Europe on a regular basis. We want to get as far as possible in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the DFB Cup.”
… the Bundesliga opener against SV Darmstadt 98:
Toppmöller: “It’s brilliant for everyone because the game against Hesse rivals makes for a cracking start. Our ambition is to win games, build on the excitement and create a certain level of enthusiasm from the get-go. I’ll put everything into that from day one.”
