Eintracht

Time to shine

He’s regarded as one of America’s brightest talents and from next year he’ll be wearing the number 30 for Eintracht Frankfurt. Introducing Paxten Aaronson.

Midfielder with an eye for goal

In summer 2022, Paxten Aaronson won the CONCACAF U-20 Championship with the USA under-20 team in Honduras. His record at the tournament was quite sensational: in seven games the 19-year-old scored seven times and assisted another goal. In the 6-0 win over Dominican Republic in the final, he netted twice and was later awarded the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament, attracting the interest of other clubs.

At 16, Aaronson signed his first professional contract at Philadelphia Union.

Teenager in the men’s game

But let’s go back to the beginning. At 16, Aaronson signed his first professional contract at Philadelphia Union. At 17, he made his first-team debut in MLS, where he’s gone on to rack up 37 appearances and four goals in America’s top flight.

Now Aaronson is moving on – to Frankfurt, where his qualities are highly regarded. “Paxten is a very young and gifted player, who will bring us tremendous flexibility in attack in the future,” Timmo Hardung, head of first-team football, told EintrachtTV on the day of the announcement. “We have a clear plan for him. The first part of that is that he arrives in January, gets accustomed to everything and ideally can hit the ground running in the new season.”

The next chapter

The midfielder has signed a contract until 2027 with Eintracht. He’s the second American in Oliver Glasner’s squad alongside Timothy Chandler, and the fifth in history after Ricardo Clark, Jermaine Jones and David Wagner. Aaronson himself is sure that he’ll integrate in the heart of Europe. “Frankfurt suits me. The playing style with high pressing, quick ball recovery and then the fast route to goal – that’s attractive football.”

The teenager added: “Combined with the phenomenal history of the club and the incredible fans, they’re the reasons I decided to move to Eintracht.” The future belongs to Aaronson and Eintracht look forward to their talented new arrival. Time to shine, Paxten.
