“That has to be our way forward” - press conference ahead of Augsburg clash

Adi Hütter highlights what the Eagles can achieve through tactical discipline and explains why his side mustn’t underestimate FC Augsburg this weekend.

Adi Hütter on…

…FC Augsburg: “Augsburg are a good team and one we’re taking seriously. They play in a clear 4-4-2 formation, they’re disciplined and strong in transition - for which they have players with the necessary pace, such as Vargas and Richter. If Finnbogason isn’t fit enough, I expect Hahn and Niederlechner - who is having a great season and is very dangerous in front of goal - to start in attack. They have quality but so do we. We want to show that on home soil.”…consistency: “We’re unbeaten in 2020 and have won three of our four games. It’s clear that we don’t want to perform like we did in Düsseldorf. On the other hand, against Leipzig we saw what we can achieve if we play with tactical discipline and as a unit. That has to be our way forward. We won’t be able to dominate every game. If we get a scrappy win tomorrow, I’ll be happy.”
…personnel: “Several players picked up knocks in the DFB Cup game, which is why I need to speak to everyone individually tomorrow. That also goes for Seppl Rode, who has a swollen cut on his face. Bas Dost is not in contention.”
