S04-SGE: Facts & Figures

The mid-week matchday takes SGE to Gelsenkirchen where they meet Schalke 04. We did the number crunching for you.

History

  • The very first Bundesliga meetings between SGE and S04 took place in the 1963/64 season, Eintracht won 4-2 at home and 2-1 away.
  • Eintracht and Schalke played 82 league games against each ther ever since, with a nearly even record: 29 SGE wins, 22 draws, 31 defeats.
  • Schalke will play their 1,600th Bundesliga match on Wednesday, their 800 at home.
  • Time for a change - SGE have gone 12 matches away v S04 and 16 years without a win, their longest run against any Bundesliga team. They last won at "Parkstadion" in 1999 (3-2, goals Fjörtoft, Sobotzik, Janßen).
  • S04 lost only 1 of their last 11 home games (6 wins, 4 draws) – 0-1 v Leverkusen in March 2015.

Season

  • Eintracht only lost on matchday 1 against Wolfsburg and they're unbeaten in 4 in a row now. They lost 1 of their last 9 games across seasons and competitions.
  • The Eagles scored by far the most goals on the break in Bundesliga so far: 6. In terms of efficiency they also recorded the best chance conversion rate needing less than 5 attempts per goal on average.
  • Both Schalke and Eintracht conceded 84 fouls each so far (only 4 Bundesliga teams more).

Individuals

  • Carlos Zambrano played for S04 between 2006 and 2010 (16 BL matches, 14 starts).
  • Stefan Aigner might pass the 100 Bundesliga games milestone v S04. In 99 matches he was involved in 34 goals (scored 22, assisted 14).
  • S04 goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann joined SGE in 2009 from Schalke (18 Bundesliga matches for the Eagles). He rejoined the Blues in 2011.
