“Not going in all guns blazing” - press conference ahead of the Round of 16

Looking forward to his first home DFB Cup tie, Adi Hütter spoke about the significance of the competition, the more-than-familiar opposition, the return of Timothy Chandler and much more.

Adi Hütter on…

…the squad: “Bas Dost isn’t yet back in training and won’t be available for the cup match. Mijat Gacinovic is back though, as is Djibril Sow who had a minor injury. Lucas Torró is in rehabilitation and is likely to be the first of the long-term injured that we get back. He’s working hard and I hope to have him available by late February or early March.”

…the stakes: “Leipzig are the favourites, but despite that, we beat them just 10 days ago and we’ll have another chance to do that tomorrow. We need to keep in mind what we managed to do in the second half the last time we played Leipzig. We’re obviously hoping to progress but so are Leipzig.”

…the team’s approach to the match: “We know that we’ll have our fans behind us and also that we’ll have to play better than we did in Düsseldorf. It’s a knock-out match and we need to keep our focus, whether it goes for 90 minutes, 120 or all the way to penalties. We’re not going to go in all guns blazing.”

…Timothy Chandler: “It seems weird to say it like this but he’s a cool guy, simple as that! It’s amazing to see how he’s fought back from a long injury lay-off and how he’s developed. I’m delighted for him.”

…the significance of the DFB Cup:
“Since I came here, this is the furthest that I’ve managed to get. The competition is very important both for the club and for me. Playing Salzburg is also something special for me, Stefan Ilsanker and Martin Hinteregger, but this match is all about Eintracht Frankfurt. We’ve got a chance to go all the way to Berlin and we want to make the most of it.”
