“Showed the right energy”

Oliver Glasner, Kevin Trapp and Mario Götze believe it was a deserved win in Bremen and praise the reaction to falling behind.

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “The first 60 minutes were great, then we tired a bit and it got unnecessarily tense at the end. The boys threw everything at it again, though, and over the 90 minutes deserved to win. After the early lead, we found ourselves 2-1 down out of nothing from set pieces. It was a very commanding and defensively largely solid performance.”

Kevin Trapp: “It was incredibly intense and action-packed. It’s a successful conclusion to this week. It was a very topsy-turvy, end-to-end game and started well with the early lead for us. In general we’re conceding too many goals – that’s something we need to get a grip on. You can see that the team are fighting and want to achieve something. We showed on the pitch what made us so strong last season.”

It’s a very nice feeling to score in the Bundesliga again after a long time.

Mario Götze

Mario Götze: “We scored four goals, which is certainly good. The goals we conceded, and the fact we got jittery at the end, were rather needless, but overall it was a good performance. The three points are important. We showed the right energy as a team. It’s a very nice feeling to score in the Bundesliga again after a long time, plus it was an important goal right at the beginning.”
