Head coach Dino Toppmöller: “What a football match. It was a really good game with high intensity on both sides. We really got a foothold in the game with our opening goal and deserved to lead at the break. We should have put the game to bed earlier in the second half but couldn’t do so. A pass, like the one for their goal, can always slip through. Perhaps it was meant to be this way. The lads were put to the test and had to overcome it. They did that and deserved to win in the end.”
Robin Koch: “We deserved to win. It’s never easy to play here. VfL Bochum have been in good form in recent weeks, but we deserved to get the three points here. We maybe should have decided the game earlier than we did but missed the chance to do so. We managed to put the seal on it at the end, though. I think we did well today. Despite the delay, we managed to stay focused.”
Oscar Højlund: “We’re really happy. We’ve had a tough spell but we’ve shown good character. This was huge for the team – the three points are very important. Our first goal changed the game. We were playing against good opponents at a big stadium. I love games like this – it’s why I play football. We showed passion on the pitch. What Kaua Santos did today was unbelievable.”
