It was a hot and sunny afternoon, on the 29th of May 10 years ago when Eintracht played the reigning title holder 1. FC Kaiserslautern at home. The season of 1998/99 was another one full of struggles and the relegation battle was very much alive on this very last matchday.

We had a very disappointing month – the logic finish for this season that we soon will forget. Korkmaz, Meier and Caio scored really nice goals but in the end we lost 4 of 5 matches with 3:13 goals. 0:2 against Dortmund, 1:1 in Hannover, 0:5 against Bremen, 0:2 in Bochum and 2:3 against Hamburg.

Our first match in that month was against Cottbus. You have to know, that CEO Bruchhagen keeps on repeating that we cannot compete the top 8 clubs in the league because we don’t have enough financial support to compete with them.

Christian Maicon Hening otherwise known as Chris has been by the Eintracht Frankfurt since the 2003/2004 season. One of our players from Brazil he has proven to be crucial to us in the defensive position. I had time after training to speak with him.

We had some good news recently in that some of the herd of injured players returned to the squad or at least started training with the team again.

Marco Russ, number 23 for our Eintracht Frankfurt was born 4 August 1985 in Hanau, Germany. Russ passed through all youth teams of Eintracht Frankfurt and finally in 2004 got a spot in the senior team.
