“We want to remain proactive”

Adi Hütter wants his players to stand up and be counted against Bremen, but without losing their heads.

Möchte den Aufwärtstrend in Bremen bestätigen: Cheftrainer Adi Hütter.

Adi Hütter on...

...the current situation: “We see Wednesday’s game as a chance to distance ourselves from the bottom of the table and establish a ten-point lead over the relegation zone, although Bremen are under more pressure than ourselves. The game in hand allows us to catch up with the other teams.”

…Eintracht’s development since returning to action: “As I said recently, we wanted to keep improving after our first game against Gladbach, which we’ve been able to do. We only conceded one goal in Wolfsburg, not least because we rose to the challenge against strong opponents and everyone fought for one another. Aggression, strength in the tackle and unity were key to getting the win. That’s what it’ll come down to again tomorrow. We also need to keep a cool head, despite the importance of the game.”

…Werder Bremen: “They haven’t conceded a goal in their last three games, winning two of those 1-0 thanks to long-range goals from [Leonardo] Bittencourt. They’re defending more solidly and have become more fluid in possession, which has led to greater stability. Bremen are a different team compared to before the break.”

…the players’ fitness levels: “The team is in very good shape. It’s important that we don’t have any injuries other than [Goncalo] Paciencia and [Gelson] Fernandes. We were able to work hard for 90 minutes at Wolfsburg – the running stats show that.”

…the Eagles’ approach: “When we’re too passive we can’t play to our strengths, which in turn allows the opposition to grow in confidence. That’s why we want to remain proactive. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in the opposition half. We’ve been improving game by game in that regard.”
