Game in hand away to Bremen

Eintracht will be travelling to Werder Bremen on Wednesday for a match that could well have big significance.

Timothy Chandler and the Eagles won the cup tie between the two teams in early March. Wednesday’s rearranged game is every bit as important.

Eintracht will finally get to play their Matchday 24 fixture against Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion on Wednesday evening, 94 days later than originally scheduled. For both teams, this promises to be a vitally important clash. Bremen sit 17th in the league and are battling to maintain their top-flight status, while Eintracht are looking to pick up three points to pull themselves further away from the wrong end of the table.

Current form

Florian Kohfeldt’s men have picked up seven points in their last three matches, with 1-0 away wins at SC Freiburg and FC Schalke 04 sandwiched either side of a 0-0 draw at home to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Adi Hütter’s side also picked up a crucial away victory last time out, with the 2-1 win at VfL Wolfsburg their first success on their travels since 18 January. “The win was really important for us but we need to keep an eye on the table and carry on picking up points. It’s still tight down there,” said Daichi Kamada. Indeed, Frankfurt are just five points above the relegation play-off spot going into the meeting at the Weserstadion.

The last time the two teams met, it was the Eagles who emerged victorious in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup, running out 2-0 winners at home.
