“We showed our character as a team”

Adi Hütter and his players agreed that Dedryck Boyata’s red card was the turning point in Eintracht’s victory at Hertha.

Dominik Kohr was delighted with the Eagles’ display at the Olympiastadion.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “I’m pleased we were able to get a win on my 500th game as head coach. The victory was fully deserved. The three points do us good - we’ve achieved our first important objective by securing our top-flight status. We always believed in our quality and experience and kept our confidence in the team, who repaid us in superb fashion today. The players’ mentality and character is excellent - as it was before I arrived. They deserve huge credit. When Daichi [Kamada] was dribbling inside the area [for Eintracht’s second goal] he reminded me of an Austrian slalom skier! It has to be a candidate for goal of the month.”

Dominik Kohr: “To produce a performance like that was sensational. The way we fought back and dominated the game was brilliant, but now we need to recover - we’re back in action on Wednesday. I’m happy to be playing a lot at the moment. Our aim is to finish in the top ten and with as many points as possible.”

Kevin Trapp: “We showed our character as a team today, just like we did against Bayern. The red card obviously helped us, but we were already well in the game at that point. At half-time we didn’t think we’d end up losing the game, and we showed that in the second half. We’ve always known we need every player we have. We rotated a lot today but still ran out convincing winners. We’re comfortable with our schedule from our time in the Europa League, and it’s helping us a lot at the moment. Daichi told the boss before the game that he’s fresh and wants to play. He showed that in the build-up to our second goal. The Mainz defeat [last weekend] was a blip in my opinion. Now we want to pick up as many points as possible in the coming games.”
