DFB Cup winners 2018: Mijat Gacinovic and Ante Rebic

Eintracht Frankfurt are the fourth-most successful team in the history of the DFB Cup, having lifted the trophy five times and been runners-up on three occasions. The club's most recent success came in 2018, when Eintracht beat record champions FC Bayern München 3-1 in a memorable final. The Eagles thus ended a 30-year wait for silverware; a success made even sweeter given their defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the previous year’s final. The club first won the competition in 1974, beating Hamburger SV 3-1 after extra time, and defended the title a year later with a 1-0 victory against MSV Duisburg. Their other two triumphs came in 1981 (a 3-1 win over 1. FC Kaiserslautern) and 1988 (a 1-0 win against VfL Bochum).

Bayern München are the competition’s most successful club with 18 wins, followed by SV Werder Bremen with six and FC Schalke 04 and Eintracht Frankfurt on five apiece. 1. FC Nürnberg, 1. FC Köln and Borussia Dortmund all have four trophies to their name. In total, 15 different clubs have won the DFB Cup more than once.
