Wednesday evening brought the mathematical confirmation of what the club had been hoping for – after a one-year absence, the Eagles will be back in Europe! Defeats for both Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-2 away to TSG Hoffenheim) and 1. FC Union Berlin (2-0 at home to Borussia Dortmund) meant that SGE are now 13 points clears of seventh and eighth spots – an unassailable lead with four matches of the season remaining.
Sixth place gives entry to the newly-formed UEFA Conference League, although Eintracht will still be hoping to secure a UEFA Europa League or UEFA Champions League spot between now and the end of the season.
After 30 matches, Eintracht currently occupy fourth place in the Bundesliga.
