Steven, you’ve almost completed your first pre-season as an Eagle. How have you been settling in?
“Really well. It’s not difficult to fit into this club. We’ve got a great team, the whole club makes every individual feel really appreciated day in, day out and I personally was made to feel very welcome.”
Are you happy with the position you’ll be playing?
“The coach sees things from my point of view and wants to have me in an attacking role. I’m obviously very pleased with that but I’m not worried about what might happen in the future – I’m focusing on the here and now. What I can have an influence on is my own performance, in training and in matches.”
It’s clear what we have to do. We need to go down there and win – it’s as simple as that.

Do you feel ready for the start of the season?
“It’s time for the actual games to get under way so that we can get into a rhythm and get proper match practice. Some people like to have longer to prepare, particularly the coaches. Others prefer a shorter pre-season – that tends to be us, the players. There’s no one right or wrong answer. Either way, I’m ready!”
What do you think of your DFB Cup opponents TSV 1860 Munich?
“It’s clear what we have to do. We need to go down there and win – it’s as simple as that. We need to give it our all over the 90 minutes – or maybe more – to get through to the next round.”
