“I knew what I was letting myself in for”

In an exclusive interview, Jesper Lindström reflects on scoring his first Eintracht goal – days after making his full debut for the Danish national team.

Jesper, what are your thoughts on the past week?
“I’m obviously very happy. Everything always happens very quickly in football. I hadn’t played a minute in three games and was obviously disappointed, but every day is different in football and there are always new games with new opportunities, which is a good thing. I’m very happy to have scored my first Bundesliga goal.”

How do you rate your performance in the win in Freiburg?
“The win was really important. The fact that I scored the goal is obviously special, but the victory and the way we performed are much more important for me.”

Although I knew what I was letting myself in for, I needed to get used to it. The step was the right one for me.

To what extent could the 2-0 win boost your confidence for the remaining seven games before the winter break?
“The win definitely gives us confidence. We’ve spoken among ourselves about picking up nine points in our last three games and starting a small winning run. I sense the satisfaction in the team and the surrounding environment, which is very important. I obviously hope we can get a few more wins.”

Now that a few months have passed since your move to Frankfurt, how would you compare football in Germany and Denmark?
“The Bundesliga is a stronger league that challenges you more in a physical sense. There’s more running and more fouls. It wasn’t so easy for me at the beginning. Although I knew what I was letting myself in for, I needed to get used to it. The step was the right one for me.”
