World Cup: Rebic helps Croatia to Nigeria victory

Eintracht Frankfurt's Ante Rebic put in a fine performance as Croatia began their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign on a winning note with a 2-0 triumph against Nigeria in Kaliningrad.

Rebic featured prominently in Croatia's World Cup warm-up games, with the Eagles' DFB Cup final hero named in the starting line-up again for the Vatreni's Group D opener against Nigeria. Involved on the right flank throughout, the Eintracht winger had a hand in the first goal, flicking Luka Modric's corner towards Mario Mandzukic, whose header was directed into his own net by Oghenekaro Etebo. After Modric made it 2-0 from the penalty spot, Rebic's night came to an end when Mateo Kovacic replaced him in the 78th minute, but the scoreline stayed at 2-0.
