Head coach Oliver Glasner: “We have to be satisfied with the point today when you look at the 90 minutes as a whole. At half-time we said we had to change our attitude before focusing on the football. That’s where I’d like to compliment my players – for their energy levels in their 24th competitive game in just over three months and for how they fought back. They didn’t want to leave the pitch as losers and scored a wonderful equaliser. We deserved the point in the end. We go into the World Cup break with a very good feeling. We’re in the round of 16 in the DFB Cup and the Champions League, and have 27 points after 15 league games.”
Sebastian Rode: “It was like it always is in Mainz, who are aggressive opponents and don’t give you an inch of space. What we’ve done in the first half of the season is outstanding – in terms of our development too. Where we’ve come from since Matchday 1, when we were beaten heavily by Bayern, to where we are today: in the Champions League round of 16 and in the European places in the Bundesliga – it’s exactly where we want to end up. It could hardly be any better.”
The support from our fans was incredible again.
Kevin Trapp
Kevin Trapp: “It was a decent point today in Mainz. We produced very little in the first half, but we were much better in the second half when we started to play football. The goal was beautifully worked. A point is an OK result in the end. The support from our fans was incredible again. You saw what was going on after the game – not just the celebrations but the feedback we were getting, what the fans were telling us. I’d say this is Eintracht’s best calendar year in a long time.”
