“We want to exploit the spaces”

Head coach Oliver Glasner reflects on the international break, provides a fitness update and assesses upcoming opponents VfB Stuttgart.

Oliver Glasner on…

…preparations for the upcoming home game: “All the players came back fit and well, which is very positive. Big respect to all the internationals who have all had to put up with a lot of travel and are still in very good shape. Yesterday we started preparing the team tactically and did a lot of video analysis – particularly with the two new signings. We showed them how we want to play and what we expect from them.”

…squad planning: “I don’t rotate for the sake of it. I rotate when another player is better suited, or when the medical department advises me to do so. All the players are in good shape at the moment, and we won’t be playing in midweek all the time.”

…potential full debuts: “Jakic and Lammers have made a very good impression up to now. They’re very open people and have trained well. Both are in the running to make the starting line-up, but that’s also the case for a lot of other players.”

Winning is the most important thing for our self-confidence, but victories are always important.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

...Filip Kostic: “We spoke with Filip Kostic again yesterday. The subject matter of that discussion will remain private, but the issue is done and dusted now as far as we’re concerned. He’s part of Eintracht Frankfurt, and now all we’re waiting for is for Filip Kostic to be Filip Kostic.”

…his expectations ahead of the Stuttgart game: “Stuttgart have an exciting team with a lot of young players. They are solid in defence, pacy down the flanks and creative in the centre of attack. They also leave some open spaces however, and we’ll be looking to make the most of that.”

…winning on Sunday: “Winning is the most important thing for our self-confidence, but victories are always important.”
