Eintracht

“We’re a team who never give up”

Eagles goalkeeper Kevin Trapp highlights Eintracht’s strong mentality and character and looks ahead with excitement to his first-ever DFB Cup final.

Kevin Trapp on ...

…excitement ahead of the final: “We ended the league campaign well with the win over Freiburg. You’re able to enjoy the following days more if you’ve won. Now we head into the final week and the biggest highlight [of the season] is approaching. The whole of Germany is watching this game – we’re really looking forward to it. Reaching two finals in the space of 12 months is extraordinary for the club and the team. It says a lot about our quality and character and makes us proud. We want to bring the cup back to Frankfurt.”

…the task at hand: “We’re playing against a team with a lot of footballing quality and in great form, but we’ve also rediscovered our form at just the right time, picked up seven points from the past three games and qualified for Europe via the league. Both teams are in good form. I’m expecting a very open and entertaining game. Little things can make the difference in games like these. We know we’ll have a lot of support both in and outside the stadium. That’ll give us an extra push.”

I’m looking forward to the game and the atmosphere.

Kevin Trapp

…his first final in Germany: “Even in the days leading up to it, you get that [special] feeling and can see what’s happening in Berlin. It’s an enormous event, another huge match that we get to play at the end of the season. I’m looking forward to the game and the atmosphere. Eintracht are capable of creating a magnificent atmosphere. That’s why you play football – to be able to experience these standout moments. Finals are always special.”

…Eintracht’s comeback qualities: “We’ve proven time and again that we’re a team who never give up. We were behind in the league recently against Schalke and Freiburg, we had to beat Sporting in the Champions League and after a poor first half in Stuttgart, we showed we’re capable of fighting back in knockout games too. We also recovered from a goal down in Seville [in the 2022 Europa League final].”
