After board member for sport Markus Krösche and the Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG supervisory board agreed a new contract until 30 June 2028, Krösche and supervisory board chairman Philip Holzer spoke at a press conference at Deutsche Bank Park about…
… the contract extension
Philip Holzer: “From our point of view, i.e. the committees, this was no surprise. We’ve had various conversations in the last six to eight weeks, individually with Markus and together. The team has worked very well together. Markus is exactly the right man to continue on the path we have pursued over the past three years.”
Markus Krösche: “When I started nearly three years ago, we set objectives. Looking back, we’ve achieved all of them in phases and even exceeded them in some parts. In recent weeks, we’ve talked about our common path and also the current situation. We quickly came to the conclusion that we want to continue working together. The journey we’ve embarked on isn’t over yet. We’ve achieved a lot but still have much to do as well. We’re in a year of transition with a lot of changes, a lot of new young players and a new coaching team. It’s important that we have continuity and keep going on this path because we believe in it. I’m pleased we’ve reached an agreement.”
… the reasons
Markus Krösche: “My time here so far has been hugely enjoyable. The emotionality, the fans and the passion that this club radiates – that’s a good basis for long-term success. They were important factors, as well as the good cooperation with the committees and the board. The energy and passion are also the foundation for achieving more extraordinary things in the coming years. That’s our goal. Eintracht Frankfurt was always my preferred destination, I’ve only been thinking about Eintracht Frankfurt. I like working here very much. We’ve had a very successful period and want to enjoy more successful times together.”
European competition is almost like winning the league for us. If we achieve it this season, that would be four years in a row of playing in Europe, which is unprecedented in the history of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Philip Holzer, chairman of the Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG supervisory board:
… the outlook
Philip Holzer: “European competition is almost like winning the league for us. If we achieve it this season, that would be four years in a row of playing in Europe, which is unprecedented in the history of Eintracht Frankfurt.”
Markus Krösche: “The overriding goal is to play in Europe. That’s important for us at Eintracht. We saw in the Europa League year how much enthusiasm our fans generate in Europe – we want to have that every year. It’s about continuing our development. Regularly playing in Europe helps us in the next step in our development – gaining experience in European competition.”
