“Be ready again”

In his pre-match press conference, Oliver Glasner demanded an immediate “switch” from European to domestic competition, praised his team’s balance and sounded a warning about Bochum.

Oliver Glasner on…

...personnel: “In terms of personnel, there are still a few question marks. We made one or two changes [on Thursday] due to muscular problems. Makoto is feeling the effects of playing two games in five days. Tuta, Almamy Toure and Djibi also have minor issues.”

...the match against VfL Bochum: “Now we have to switch back to the Bundesliga. We have to be ready again and build on our performance in every area: compactness, assurance on the ball and working together as a team. VfL Bochum have a lot of fast attacking players, especially on the wings. They’ll demand everything from us, we have to be prepared for that. If you go into a Bundesliga game with 95 per cent, you’ll leave the pitch as losers.”

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…dealing with his own dissatisfaction: “Sometimes you don’t manage to implement everything that you set out to do on the pitch. That doesn’t mean we underestimated Hertha, but we have to accept that our performance didn’t live up to our expectations. What’s more important is that we take the right lessons from it.”

...balance on the wings: “I was very pleased with our play down both flanks yesterday. That will also be important in the match against Bochum as they possess pace out wide. Our two wingers did very well yesterday, they were constantly getting forward while at the same time helping out the back three.”

…the changeover from Europa League to Bundesliga: “Olympiacos is history. In two days, we’ll have to prove ourselves again in front of a capacity crowd. That’s the challenge, but it might be a little easier for us on the back of a win. We’re heading in the right direction in all areas. What we lack most is the consistency to deliver a performance for the entire 90 minutes.”
