"We’ve always played very well against Bayern" - Niko Kovac’s key quotes ahead of trip to Munich

Having come close to taking points off Bayern Munich in their recent meetings with the record Bundesliga champions, Niko Kovac sees no reason why his Eintracht Frankfurt side can’t record a positive result in Munich on Saturday.

Head coach Niko Kovac on…

... personell:
Prince [Boateng] won’t be available on Saturday. He’s still struggling badly with the bruised thigh he picked up against Schalke. Johnny de Guzman is out with a muscle strain, Danny Blum is ill and Makoto Hasebe is suspended. Carlos Salcedo is back training with the team but Saturday’s game comes too early for him. The same goes for Ante Rebic, who is making good progress.

... the impact of Bayern’s Champions League semi-final on Saturday’s clash:
It’s clear that Bayern are prioritising their semi-final over the Bundesliga - they’ve already won the league, after all. Having said that, they made plenty of changes against Hannover last week and still won convincingly. They’re bound to ring the changes again on Saturday, which is normal. The players who come in are all fantastic footballers and will want to put themselves in contention for a starting berth on Tuesday. That doesn’t make things any easier for us - quite the contrary.

... Eintracht’s chances of beating Bayern:
We’ve done very well in our last few games against Bayern. We were unfortunate to lose 1-0 at home earlier this season and were close to getting something in both our matches last term. We had our chances but came off second best on both occasions. Our attitude was exceptional though. I see no reason why we can’t get something on Saturday.

... what the Eagles need to do to avoid defeat:
We have to defend well, run more than our opponents and make the most of the few opportunities they give us. It’s vital that we don’t allow them any space in wide positions. We certainly have the stamina to do so. I’ve had a look at the numbers from our last few games - we always run at least 115km every game. My boys are in great shape, as they have been all season.
