Next task: Gladbach!

Eintracht kick off a busy week with a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Eintracht have made a successful start to April with wins against Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg. Now they’re aiming to pick up another result in Saturday’s away match at Borussia Mönchengladbach (kick-off 15:30 CEST) to maintain their dream of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history. “We have a historic opportunity,” said coach Adi Hütter. “All that matters to me at the moment is Eintracht’s success. We want to retain our advantage and qualify for the Champions League. We’re putting this goal above everything else.”

In form and determined

The victory over the Wolves took Eintracht’s points tally in the second half of the campaign to 26, the same as leaders Bayern Munich. The Eagles have already put themselves in a good position for the run-in, and now it’s about capping that off in the remaining matches of the season. “Games are running out, it’s in our own hands,” stated Hütter. “The others have to; we want to. It’s important we see our journey through to the end.”

It’s a hugely important match in terms of our objectives.

Martin Hinteregger

Hinteregger set to return

Gladbach are the only Bundesliga side who Hütter has not managed to beat yet. Regardless of that, the encounter with the eighth-placed Foals will also be a special one for three Eintracht players. Djibril Sow, Amin Younes and Martin Hinteregger all played for Gladbach in the past, and Hinteregger is hoping to make his comeback against his former club having returned to team training on Tuesday. “If it carries on like this, I’ll certainly be an option for the weekend,” revealed the centre-back. “It’s a hugely important match in terms of our objectives. Everyone’s said that this is the month of truth. We’ve been the best team in the league in 2021, which is quite phenomenal.”
