Goodbye and hello again

Schalke 04 are the visitors to Deutsche Bank Park on Sunday in what will be David Abraham’s last match for the club. The visitors also have a number of familiar faces in their ranks.

Eintracht welcome FC Schalke 04 to Deutsche Bank Park on Sunday at 18:00 CET, in the final fixture of Matchday 16. While the visitors celebrated their first league win in 360 days last time out, the Eagles are preparing to say farewell to David Abraham, in what promises to be an emotional last match for the club captain.

Building on current form

Abraham is determined to keep the focus on the job in hand and is very much setting the example in this respect, saying: “My motto is to give it everything you’ve got right until the end. After that, you’ll have time to think about what lies ahead. First, I’m looking to sign off with a win over Schalke.”

Eintracht currently have 23 points from 15 matches, putting them ninth in the table. Coach Adi Hütter’s men are currently on a three-match winning run in the league and will be looking to extend that against the Royal Blues. History is on the Eagles’ side, as they have recorded more Bundesliga home wins over Schalke 04 than any other team (26). Eintracht are also unbeaten in their last nine Bundesliga games at Deutsche Bank Park (four wins and five draws).

We meet again

The match will also see the return of a number of familiar faces. Omar Mascarell, Bastian Oczipka, Ralf Fährmann, Goncalo Paciencia and Frederik Rönnow have all made the move from Eintracht to Schalke 04, the last two on loan.
