“We needn’t fear anyone” – Sebastien Haller interview

Sebastien Haller talks about his good start to the season, his short-terms goals and the upcoming meeting with Werder Bremen.

Sebastien, you’ve already scored seven goals in all competitions. How do you assess your start to the season?

Sebastien Haller: “I’m happy with how the opening games have gone, and that I’ve been able to contribute to some positive results with a few goals. But it’s not just about goals, it’s also about assists and my overall performance. I want to help the team. At the moment it’s going well for us but there’s always room for improvement. That’s why we’re concentrating on what’s ahead rather than what we’ve achieved so far. There’s still a long way to go this season.”

You have 15 points on the board already. Where will Eintracht finish at the end of the season?

Sebastien Haller: “I don’t have a concrete expectation. We’re taking it one game at a time and only concentrating on the next match. It’ll be a long, hard season and every side can be dangerous. Our main aim is to get enough points for survival as quickly as possible.”

Next up are Werder Bremen. What do you expect from the match?

Sebastien Haller: “That’ll also be a very tough match. Bremen are in a difficult situation at the moment and have just sacked their coach. That’ll certainly have an effect on them. They’ll be giving everything to turn things around and get a positive result, so for us it’s even more important that we play our own game and continue the positive momentum we’ve built up over the last few weeks. It’s clear that we needn’t fear anyone and we want to get the three points at home.”

Looking back on your first few weeks here, have you noticed any major differences between football in the Netherlands and in Germany?

Sebastien Haller: “The level in the Bundesliga is obviously higher, that’s obvious. But I think if you want to be a good striker you have to perform well regardless of what league you’re in. Therefore the most important thing is staying focussed and doing your job.”
