Ante, Eintracht take on Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. What kind of game are you expecting?
Ante Rebic: “Leverkusen are a strong side, particularly in attack. It’s going to be a very tough game, that’s for sure. We’re not really focusing on Bayer, though, but rather on our own performance. If we play to our full potential and give everything out on the pitch, we have a good chance of picking up points on Saturday. We want to keep our run going.”
You yourself are in pretty good form at the moment, too. What’s your secret to success?
Ante Rebic: “Nothing special. I train hard, get plenty of rest at home and then try to give 100 per cent in every game. Besides, there were times last season when I was playing even better than I am now. I’m scoring a lot at the moment, which is the main difference.”
Your fine form has even resulted in a recall to the Croatia squad…
Ante Rebic: “It’s great. I was really happy to be back in the squad after two and a half years. It was very emotional, but one thing is clear - I’m not thinking about next summer’s World Cup finals just yet. My main priority is to do well with Eintracht this season. If I do that, everything else will fall into place.”
What are your objectives with Eintracht this season?
Ante Rebic: “The reason we’re in such a good position at the moment is because we get on really well as a team. If we keep this up, a top-ten finish is not beyond the realms of possibility. It’s incredibly tight in the standings, though. It will all come down to fine margins, which is why we need to stay focused.”
