Yardstick for Eagles at Estadio Mestalla

Eintracht visit Valencia CF in their final friendly of pre-season with the aim of lifting the Trofeu Taronja. The game is being shown live on EintrachtTV.

Dress rehearsal against Valencia

After games against Heusenstamm, Juárez, Louisville, Steinbach Haiger and FSV Frankfurt, the meeting with Valencia on Saturday 10 August is the Eagles’ sixth friendly ahead of the 2024/25 season and the dress rehearsal for their first competitive game of the campaign on 19 August – a DFB Cup first-round tie at Eintracht Braunschweig.

I’m excited to see what’s in store for me and for us. We need to put our foot down.

Igor Matanovic

“We need to put our foot down”

The clash with one of Spain’s most traditional clubs at the Estadio Mestalla, which was built in 1923, has been described as a “yardstick” by Eagles head coach Dino Toppmöller. Those sentiments have been echoed by Igor Matanovic, who scored twice against FSV Frankfurt in Bornheim on Wednesday evening. “It’s going to be another test at another different level,” said the striker ahead of the game, which kicks off at 21:00 CEST and is being shown live on EintrachtTV, in association with Indeed. “I’m excited to see what’s in store for me and for us. We need to put our foot down.”

Valencia Club de Fútbol, who have won six La Liga titles, eight Copa del Reys as well as seven different European honours, also get their competitive campaign under way next weekend. The winners of Saturday’s match will receive the Trofeu Taronja, which was first awarded in 1959.

On Sunday, the Eagles squad will head to Deutsche Bank Park for the Eintracht Family Day.
