With his move to Eintracht Frankfurt, Fabio Blanco Gómez is taking a big leap. The 17-year-old Spaniard, whose preferred position is on the right wing, is leaving his home country to show what he is capable of in Frankfurt. “In recent years Frankfurt has progressed a lot and have a lot of matches to play in the coming season since they qualified for international competition. I would like to continue my development in Frankfurt and take this opportunity to develop personally while far away from home. I’m really looking forward to my time in Germany at Eintracht Frankfurt”, said Blanco.
Highly sought-after
The winger has signed a contract at Eintracht until 30 June 2023, with an option for an extension. He was born in the Andalusian city of Almería and cut his teeth at Spanish giants Valencia CF, where he most recently played for the U19 team. It was there that Blanco Gómez attracted the attention of several top European clubs last year – but he decided that Frankfurt was the best place for his development.
Fine technician
In his first few training sessions at SGE, he has already impressed his teammates. “He’s lively and wants to show what he can do,” said fellow new arrival Christopher Lenz for one. “I think it’s good when you come onto the field aged 17 and play without fear.”
Blanco offers strong technical ability, anticipates situations well and always looks for the direct route to goal. At 17 years old, he is still eligible to play for Eintracht U19s, but the plan is for him to primarily be involved with the first team straight away.
