Eagles ease to victory

Eintracht produced a clinical performance to defeat eighth-tier SV Nieder-Weisel 14-0 on Saturday.

New signings Lucas Alario, Randal Kolo Muani and Marcel Wenig were all handed starts in an Eintracht side that also featured four members of the team that defeated Rangers in the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League final in May, namely Tuta, Evan Ndicka, Sebastian Rode and Jesper Lindström. It was new signing Kolo Muani who fired the Eagles in front after just 38 seconds, the 23-year-old finishing superbly from Christopher Lenz’s delivery.

The Eagles soon added to their early advantage as Kolo Muani side-footed Chandler’s cross into the far corner, before Lindström made it 3-0 from a direct free-kick. Kolo Muani completed his hat-trick six minutes before the break, with headers from Alario and Ndicka making it 6-0 at half-time.

Oliver Glasner made 11 changes at the interval but there was no let-up for the minnows, who fell further behind when Nacho headed home six minutes after the restart. Fellow half-time substitute Goncalo Paciencia soon got in on the act with a firm header, before a pair of Nieder-Weisel own goals put Eintracht into double figures. Well-taken efforts from Faride Alidou and Dritan Maqkai extended the Eagles’ lead even further, and Paciencia struck twice late on to complete his treble.
