Veh: Improved Quality

During today's pre match press conference ahead of the home match against Union Berlin (kick-off tomorrow at 18h CET) manager Armin Veh answered the media's questions. Please read a summary below.

Mr Veh, have you got an update on the injured players? Who will play tomorrow?
For now they will join the training. Of course it depends on how they feel and we will decide later on whether they will play or not. In fact I have no reason to change the line-up, if these players are fit I would stick to the starting eleven really. But I do not want to make a commitment there. There might be alterations short term.

How likely are Rode and Schildenfeld to get fit to play?
That is difficult to say. We will have to test them in training and I do not know yet what the outcome will be.

How convenient or inconvenient will the international break be once the team is established in the top region of the standings?
First of all we have not yet won against Berlin, and we will take it as it is - if there is an internationl break then so be it. I am not interested in the conditions which I cannot influence.

What are Union Berlin's strengths and why are you not too sure about winning the game?
Because they have a decent team. I watched all the matches of Union and I have to say they did play well. They are pretty slick towards the front and also dangerous from set piece situations. Berlin had a good season so far, hence it will be a tricky match for us.

Regarding Bundesliga 2, have you and the team settled in by now?
I have not got used to the kick-off times yet. To be honest I do not want to get used to playing Saturdays at 13h or Mondays at 20.15h. In regards to the quality we no doubt have improved, because if you do not come to terms with 2. Bundesliga football there soon might be a rude awakening.

The Eagles proved more powerful in matches away from home so far. Would you call it a home weakness?
No. You have to bear in mind that we have a totally reconstructed squad. It takes time to get used to that. But I also say that if you want to get promoted you need to win at home. We have proven that we can do that, I would not say there is a home weakness.
