“We want to reach the quarter-finals”

Oliver Glasner and Rafael Santos Borré discuss Real Betis and their strengths, and how the Eagles will approach the first leg in Seville.

Oliver Glasner on …

…personnel: “Apart from Ragnar Ache everyone’s fit. We’re looking forward to the Europa League round of 16 against, in my view, very strong opposition. Every player in our squad is a candidate to start. We’re looking forward to the Europa League match against, in my view, very strong opposition.”

…Real Betis: “We’ve watched some of their games, including their home match against Atlético last Sunday. That heightened our sense of anticipation even further. We have a great deal of respect for them, but we only have one aim: we want to reach the quarter-finals.”

Frankfurt loves Europe and European competition. We felt that before in the autumn and we’ve realised it again now. It’s infectious – and therefore we boarded the flight with great anticipation.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

...his expectations of the game: “I expect Betis to have more of the ball than us. We need to be compact at the back and create overloads on the wings. On top of that, they’ve got players who can shoot from long range and are good at set-pieces. We need to defend well in every area. We need to be compact in defence and awake because Betis have a lot of quality in attack. It’s important that we play our football, though. That’s served us very well in the Europa League up to now.”

Rafael Santos Borré on…

…Spain, where he has previously played: “I’m looking forward to this match. For me personally, it’s always special to come up against a Spanish team. But also for us as a team, it’s great to be in the round of 16 and take part in this match.”

…his role at Eintracht: “I feel that I’m becoming increasingly well integrated, but I know that I can still give more to the team. Above all, it’s important that we work together as a team and improve.”
