The highs and lows of the loan player

Seven Eintracht players are currently out on loan. We take a look at how Danny da Costa, Dejan Joveljic and the others are faring.

Climbing back up the table

Danny da Costa and Dominik Kohr were both sent out on loan to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in mid-January. Kohr headed home the winner for Mainz last time out in the 2-1 victory over Hoffenheim, and with the help of both players, who are regulars in the starting XI, Mainz find themselves out of the relegation zone for the first time since Matchday 8 of the season.

Zalazar involved in every match

Rodrigo Zalazar was loaned to FC St. Pauli in August 2020 and the Uruguayan has featured in every match since the move. During that time, he has scored five goals and set up another three.

Jovelic on the mark, at home and in Europe

As well as countless minutes of playing time in the Austrian Bundesliga for Wolfsberger AC and 11 goals into the bargain, Dejan Joveljic has also picked up plenty of European experience, finding the back of the net on a further two occasions in the Europa League.

Torrid time at Schalke

Schalke 04 are rooted to the foot of the table with only an outside chance of avoiding the drop. They’ve been without Goncalo Paciencia since the end of November due to a knee injury, while Frederik Rönnow – who was consistently among the best players in the side in his 10 league appearances so far – has been struggling with a groin strain for a number of months now.

Stendera kicking his heels

Nils Stendera was sent to Lokomotive Leipzig on loan in September, but after seven matches in the Regionalliga Nordost, play was brought to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the end of November.
