Frankfurt’s various fan groups are diverse in their very nature and pulled together to show their solidarity for the third time after similar campaigns in 1992 and 2008. The city, the club and the fans all thrive on diversity. Diversity is what makes them United – hence the ‘United Colors of Frankfurt’. (Ed. The German word 'Eintracht' is similar to the English 'United').
All 11,500 T-shirts sold
The overarching association of almost 900 Eintracht fan clubs comprises over 45,000 members and initiated the campaign with support from the entire Frankfurt fan base. “Eintracht fans belong together, no matter where they come from, what they look like or what sex they are,” said Ina Kobuschinski, Chairman of the Eintracht Frankfurt Fan Club Association, in Friday’s press conference.
A mosaic of diversity
The Ultras' fan mosaic was at the heart of proceedings on Sunday – a fantastic image for a fantastic campaign. “This campaign is unique because it didn’t originate from the club – it came entirely from the fans,” said board member Axel Hellmann. “It’s a campaign for diversity which sends out a message against racism and discrimination. We’d like to thank our main sponsor Indeed, who relinquished their sponsor logo on the shirts to allow for this.”
