UEFA Europa League schedule

Eintracht Frankfurt's DFB Cup triumph means they will participate in the UEFA Europa League next season, with a place in the September’s group stage already guaranteed.

Before the season started, few would have predicted that Eintracht Frankfurt would finish in a respectable eighth place in the Bundesliga and end a 30-year trophy drought with DFB Cup glory. However, Saturday's victory over Bayern Munich means that SGE have booked their place in the UEFA Europa League group stages and will also play their first competitive fixture of the 2018/19 campaign against Bayern.

Europa League in September

The Europa League group stage draw takes place in Monaco on 31 August, but Eagles fans will have to wait a little longer for their first continental trip, with the first round of matches scheduled for Thursday 20 September. Each Europa League group will consist of four teams that will play in a round-robin format comprising home and away fixtures. Once all six matchdays are completed, the group winners and runners-up progress to the Round of 32.

Supercup against Bayern

In August Eintracht will meet Bayern again in the Supercup, which traditionally pits the Bundesliga champions against the DFB Cup winners. If Bayern had secured the double then league runners-up FC Schalke 04 would have participated instead. The game – Eintracht's second appearance in the Supercup following a 2-0 defeat to Werder Bremen in the 1988 edition - will take place on either 11 or 12 August, setting up a swift reunion with Bayern-bound coach Niko Kovac.
