“Only interested in our performance”

Oliver Glasner reveals why Eintracht’s performances are currently more important than the Bundesliga table, how this relates to the display against Dortmund and what he expects against Augsburg.

Oliver Glasner on…

…personnel: “Lenz and Hauge are likely to return after Bielefeld. Toure and Sow have been back in training since the beginning of the week, Durm completed the first session today. Danny da Costa is still in isolation.”

…upcoming opponents Augsburg: “We expect Augsburg to line up in a clear 4-4-2 formation. It’s hard to find gaps against them. They get forward quickly and have the second highest direct playing speed in the league. We’ll need to be well covered. They have got a lot of big strikers who can always win flick-ons, and wingers who attack the spaces at speed. We have great respect, but clearly we want to win. That requires a good performance.“

…defensive options: “We’ve prepared thoroughly and analysed the game against Dortmund in detail and with self-criticism. Because we conceded three goals, it wasn’t all perfect from a defensive perspective and we showed the players that. We always look at which type of players are best suited to our upcoming opponents and decide from there.”

To be honest, I couldn’t tell you the exact table. I only know that we have 27 points.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…the table: “To be honest, I couldn’t tell you the exact table. I only know that we have 27 points. I’m only interested in our performance at this stage. Despite the defeat against Dortmund, you could say we maintained our performance levels from November and December. We had our chances in the game and brought the defeat upon ourselves.”

…Makoto Hasebe: “Makoto Hasebe could’ve had a longer holiday in order to be with his family in Japan, but because of the coronavirus situation he decided to stay here for the start of training on 30 December. That says a lot about him.”
