Trial with an extended stay?

Allan Souza is on trial with Eintracht during the team's training camp in the USA and is hoping it will lead to a second spell in the Bundesliga.

The 21-year-old has had stints with sides in Finland, Belgium, Germany and Cyprus since leaving his boyhood club SC International in Brazil to join Liverpool in 2015. However, he is yet to play for the English outfit, despite head coach Jürgen Klopp being a big fan of the technically astute midfielder: "I saw him in training and thought: 'Oh my God, that boy's good'." The problem is that Allan does not have a work permit for England and, in accordance with the English FA's regulations, he therefore cannot play for the 2018 UEFA Champions League runners-up.

Allan's European odyssey

That has led to Liverpool loaning out the central midfielder every year, initially with Finnish club SJK Seinäjoki before he moved on to VV St. Truiden in Belgium. In 2016/17 Allan, a left-footer with a fearsome shot, made 15 Bundesliga appearances in a season with Hertha Berlin. Last term he laced his boots for Apollon Limassol in Cyprus, where he gained experience in the UEFA Europa League.

Now Allan is hoping to impress at Eintracht over the coming days. The Porto Alegre native has made six appearances for Brazil's Under-20 side and played 53 matches as a professional to date. Whether or not he will add to that tally in an Eintracht shirt will be revealed over the next few days.
