Training Camp - Injuries - Transfers

Read an update on recent happenings at the club below - the latest on the team, the preparation towards the second season half and some transfer information.

  • QATAR TRAINING CAMP

Despite a few obstacles on the first day (the equipment was held up in customs and the main pitch was not available right away) the Eagles now enjoy excellent conditions for their training camp in Doha (Qatar). Team and coaches travelled to the Middle East on Sunday and will return after a 10 day stay.

  • SKIPPER PIRMIN SCHWEGLER INJURED

Team captain Pirmin Schwegler (pictured) suffered a broken toe during the training camp in Doha / Qatar which started last Sunday. He will be out of action for around four weeks.

  • TRANSFERS: BELL BACK TO MAINZ, HELMES MIGHT JOIN

Stefan Bell has already left the training camp in Doha for an imminent move back to his main club Mainz 05. The defender and Germany Under-21 international expressed his will to return to Mainz and the Eintracht officials agreed to terminating the loan deal.

Meanwhile negotiations of Eintracht officials with VfL Wolfsburg and Felix Magath continue in order to succeed in signing striker Patrick Helmes.

News on the transfers of Theofanis Gekas (transferred to Samsunspor) and Heiko Butscher (joined from SC Freiburg).

  • TEST MATCHES & INDOOR CUPS

Early exits for the Eagles in a couple of indoor cups: Eintracht had to pack up after the group stage already in both the 'Harder 13 Cup' (Mannheim) and the 'Licher Hessen Cup' (Frankfurt). The indoor tournaments were held in early January.

On Friday the 13th Eintracht won a test match against 3rd division team VfR Aalen: Meier, Schwegler and Kittel provided the goals for a 3-0 score line.

On Wednesday the Eagles beat the Under-23 Olympic team of Qatar during the training camp in Doha. Jimmy Hoffer scored the match winning goal after 52 minutes.

  • ON THE WAY BACK: BAMBA & MO

Bamba Anderson and Mo Idrissou (left) have flown out to Doha with the team despite their operations in late December. They are working hard to rejoin the squad for the training sessions and are recovering well.
