Evan Ndicka on…
…day two of the Eagles’ training camp: “It went very well. We’re gaining momentum little by little and trying to get back into a rhythm. This is what pre-season should be like if we want to have a good campaign.”
…his own fitness levels: “I’m feeling very good and think I’ve made a good start to pre-season. It’s my second day of pre-season training with the team and I’m happy so far.”
…his objectives for the coming campaign: “I obviously want to put in good performances and help the team play as well as possible. I want to play my part on and off the pitch. I think everyone wants to play as many games as possible, preferably from the start. If that’s what everyone wants then it has to be my personal aim, too.”
…the Under-20 World Cup with France: “I think we did well in the group phase, but unfortunately we were knocked out by the USA in the last 16. We learned the hard way against them. I don’t think we were necessarily the weaker team, but they were more clinical and composed. It’s all part of the learning curve and gaining experience.”
…his relationship with Almamy Toure: “He’s my neighbour at the hotel - two Frenchmen sticking together! We have fun together and laugh a lot. It might sound strange, but football isn’t everything. Other things are just as important, if not more so. I don’t think it’s unusual to be friends with a team-mate who plays in a similar position as you.”
…his memories of last season’s Europa League season: “I’ve kept one or two souvenirs from our European campaign, like players’ shirts. I’ve obviously got everything saved on my phone, but that’s in the past now. We need to look forward.”
