Even though the underdogs from Bremen showed a good performance, Eintracht’s victory never was at stake. 31 minutes into the game, new signing Castaignos opened the scoring line with a clean finish after a well-timed pass by Reinartz. After Seferovic had hit the bar with a header shortly before the halftime whistle, Eintracht extended their lead when Aigner, following a pass by Inui, netted the ball in from very close range (52’). Aigner might have been offside, but referee Schriever awarded the goal nevertheless.
With this set-back at high temperatures, the hosts appeared a bit groggy. Finally, Eintracht youngster Waldschmidt, who had entered the pitch for Inui, killed the game when he sidestepped an opponent and slotted home past Bremen keeper Ceglarek (71’).
The match took place in Sportpark am Vinnenweg in front of about 3,400 supporters. The second DFB Cup round will be played on 27 and 28 October 2015.
