Those in attendance at Deutsche Bank Park on Tuesday morning will have returned home brimming with excitement for the 2022/23 campaign – and that goes for players and fans alike.
At the first training session of the season, which was open to the public, the 25-man Eintracht squad lapped up the regular applause that lasted from the warm-up to the 30-minute training game at the end of the session, during which attacking newcomers Lucas Alario and Randal Kolo Muani introduced themselves to the spectators with a headed goal apiece.
Regardless of first impressions, Markus Krösche is pleased to have assembled a strong squad in timely fashion for Oliver Glasner and his coaching staff, telling EintrachTV: “It was our goal to have the new signings in place by the time we start training and to have a more or less complete squad.” While the summer break was “eventful” and involved “a lot of work”, the board member for sport was quick to add: “When I see the team here, it was worth it.”

Sebastian Rode was just as pleased with his new team-mates after the session. “As in previous years, we gave everyone a friendly welcome,” he said. “We know that fun and togetherness play an extremely important role at Eintracht.”
Just how quickly the new players are settling on was epitomised by Mario Götze, who approached the watching fans and offered them autographs and selfies. In short, it was a successful start to pre-season both on and off the pitch for the Eagles.
