“Couldn’t have dreamt of five goals”

After the goal fest against Union Berlin, the Eagles were delighted with their efficiency and their improved position in the table, but are not getting too carried away.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “That was a game where there’s a lot to analyse. We did well in the first half and put together some good moves, as well as being very good in transition. After the break we allowed too many chances. The three points are what count, and I’m pleased. Before the game, I couldn’t have dreamt of five goals against the third-best defence in the league. There were lots of mistakes on both sides. I love attacking and attractive football, as long as we don’t leave ourselves open. That’s what we didn’t achieve today, but I’m very happy with the three points before the international break.”

Every win is worth its weight in gold if we want to achieve our objectives.

Kevin Trapp

Kevin Trapp: “We scored three goals at exactly the right time. Almost every Union attack was dangerous, so it was important that we took our chances. Union had a lot of good chances and the match could have easily turned out differently. Every win is worth its weight in gold if we want to achieve our objectives. The point at Leipzig is also even more valuable after this win.”

Makoto Hasebe: “At the end of the day, we won 5-2. We were commanding in the first half and played very nice football. In the second half we were a bit too passive, but we stayed calm. It was a deserved win.”
