Standing places in UEFA club competitions

The UEFA Executive Committee has announced that it has approved the use of standing areas at international club competitions in three countries, including Germany.

In accordance with national regulations, teams in France, England and Germany are allowed to use standing areas on a trial basis in all UEFA club competitions. This means that up to 51,500 spectators will be in attendance at Deutsche Bank Park in the first Champions League season in Eintracht Frankfurt's history. Accordingly, Eintracht will offer fans their regular places in the standing areas.

This is a wise and courageous decision by UEFA, and one we very much welcome.

The move has been met with whole-hearted approval by the club. “This is a wise and courageous decision by UEFA, and one we very much welcome,” said Philipp Reschke, member of the executive board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG. “Standing areas at international club matches have long deserved another chance and we are pleased that now – especially with the help of Football Supporters Europe – the lengthy efforts at persuasion have paid off.”
