“Competing for the European places”

Board member for sport Markus Krösche on the start to the season, the Europa League, Eintracht Women domestically and in Europe, and leaders in the squad.

Markus Krösche on ...

... Eintracht’s start to the season: “We’re happy that we got through a tough DFB Cup tie away to Eintracht Braunschweig. Getting a win there was an important way to kick off the season. Saturday saw us win our first home game against Hoffenheim. The boys did well but there are still aspects that we can improve on. It’s been a good start but the season is still young.”

... the club’s aims for this campaign: “Basically, we want to be competing for the European places and the UEFA Europa League again this year, while at the same time going as far as possible in the cup. In the UEFA Europa League, the aim is to lay the foundations in the new league structure to reach the round of 16. It will be an intensive period but one we’re looking forward to.”

... Eintracht Women in Europe: “We want to get into the group stage of the Women’s Champions League again this year. On Wednesday we face Sporting, which will be no easy task but despite that, we absolutely want to make it through. The same goes for the group stage.”

... Eintracht Women on the domestic front: “We have a very clear aim and that is to be at least third in the league, and maybe we’ll have a chance of finishing one place higher than that.”

... leaders in the squad: “Kevin Trapp is our new captain, having already taken on plenty of responsibility in recent years. Robin Koch and Mario Götze also have lots of experience. Rasmus Kristensen and Arthur Theate, meanwhile, are players who have joined us and have leadership qualities. And the group as a whole have been around the block for plenty of years, so we’ll be looking to them to fill the gap with what we’ve lost with the departures of Seppl Rode and Makoto Hasebe.”
