“Everything was perfect”

Sasa Kalajdzic explains the reasons for his move to Eintracht and describes the initial talks with the management, his qualities and his enthusiasm for the club and the city.

Sasa Kalajdzic will wear the eagle on his chest until the end of the current campaign after joining Eintracht on loan from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. Having already completed his first couple of training sessions with his new teammates, the Austrian striker spoke in a press conference at the ProfiCamp about…

… his first week in Frankfurt: “On Friday I still had a game with Wolverhampton, then after little sleep I headed to Frankfurt. I’d like to thank everyone for making it happen so smoothly. Everyone at Eintracht is extremely nice, I’ve been well received and everyone’s given me a good feeling. It’s been a very good start. In the talks the management gave me the feeling they really wanted me and rate me very highly. Everything was perfect.”

… Eintracht Frankfurt: “Everyone knows what kind of club Eintracht Frankfurt is. When my transfer was confirmed and the players at Wolverhampton asked me where I’m going, everyone said: ‘Wow, awesome club, big club.’ Great, crazy fans, the stadium and infrastructure are first-class, the people who work here are first-class, the facilities are fantastic and the city is beautiful. It’s just a great place.”

… his qualities: “The team have played without a proper target man for the last six months. I believe I can perform that role well. With my height and attributes, I bring certain elements into play and I think I can be a good addition, but Frankfurt can also help me. There are a few candidates who can hit good crosses. If you see a tall player in the penalty area, then you should feed him.”

I believe in myself because I know what I can do and what I want to achieve.

… his expectations and ambitions: “I want to play at the highest possible level. The chances of that are very good here. I’ll do everything to make sure we qualify for Europe.”

… the restart against Leipzig: “I’m feeling ready. It’s never fun against Leipzig, they’re tricky opponents, but I’m looking forward to it nevertheless. I just want to get back to playing well and enjoying playing. The team will help me with that.”

… his mentality: “I don’t have a mental coach – my mental coach is my wife. Before that it was my dad. I also have a certain amount of ambition. I believe in myself because I know what I can do and what I want to achieve.”
