Sow gets a win, Hrustic dares to dream

Switzerland picked up their first Nations League win over Portugal, while Australia will be looking to take the final World Cup ticket up for grabs tonight.

After kicking off their UEFA Nations League campaign with three straight defeats, Switzerland finally secured their first victory on Sunday. Djibril Sow was in the starting line-up for the match against Portugal, playing until the 79th minute and contributing to the 1-0 win.

Norway remain unbeaten

Norway – with Jens Petter Hauge as an unused substitute – made it three wins in four Nations League matches with a 3-2 victory over Sweden.

Serbia drop valuable points

Serbia were two goals up at half time but failed to hold onto the lead, with the match against Slovenia finishing 2-2. Filip Kostic came on in the 57th minute.

Hrustic 90 minutes away from a World Cup berth

Monday evening will see three Eagles in action. At 20:00 CEST, the play-off final between Ajdin Hrustic’s Socceroos and Peru will be held at a neutral venue in Doha. The winners of this intercontinental showdown will then get to take part in the World Cup at the end of the year in Qatar.

Kristijan Jakic’s Croatia are currently third in their UEFA Nations League group and take on France at 20.45 CEST, while Aymen Barkok’s Morocco kick off a quarter of an hour later in their second Africa Cup of Nations group-stage qualifier against Liberia.
