All about the round of 16

Eintracht have qualified directly for the UEFA Europa League round of 16 as group-winners. Here is what they have to look forward to between now and March.

The 1-1 draw away to Fenerbahce SK enabled Eintracht Frankfurt to finish first in UEFA Europa League Group D, which sees them – along with the other seven group-winners – through to the round of 16 directly. Those ties will be played on Thursday 10 and 17 March 2022, with Eintracht at home in the second leg.

The play-off round in between will take place on 17 and 24 February, and the Eagles will be watching on with interest. It will feature the second-placed teams from the Europa League groups and the third-placed teams from the Champions League, with the eight winners going through to the Europa League round of 16.

No more away goals rule

In the knockout stages of the competition, there will be no more away goals rule. If the tie is level after the first and second legs, this season’s UEFA competitions will then go into extra time. The play-off and round of 16 ties will kick off at 18.45 CET and 21:00 CET.
