Skibbe: More Determination

Ahead of Sunday's game away to SC Freiburg (kick off 17.30h CET) manager Michael Skibbe offered his views in the mandatory pre match press conference.

Mr Skibbe, Theofanis Gekas did not finish the practice session. Will he play on Sunday?
Theofanis has got muscular issues and is in question for the game.

Who would be likely to replace him?
We have good alternatives up front with Martin Fenin, Halil Altintop and Ioannis Amanatidis.

What is missing for Ioannis Amanatidis to play the full 90 minutes?
His speediness is not yet back to normal, which is relating to his last injury. That is by the way similar to Aleksandar Vasoski.

Does that mean Amanatidis is not ready to be in the starting line-up?
He is an option.

Patrick Ochs and Alex Meier have minor injuries – what are these exactly?
They both have a contusion. They are able to run but it is problematic with shots. The game is not in question for them though.

Might Chris retire?
You would have to ask him directly. He is trying everything to become available again.

Would have earlier surgery been better?
First we tried everything with conservative treatments. But after a variety of doctors examined him surgery has become unavoidable now.

Which player could end the bad run without scoring a goal?
That does not matter. Whether it might be Sebastian Jung or Maik Franz from a corner – any player can score a goal on Sunday. We have to be more determined with our attacking play.

What are the reasons for Freiburg having an impressive season in your view ?
The team is very homogeneous with a good and solid defense. Their attacking play is focussed and their striker Cissé is a threat.
