Skhiri and Larsson on the pitch, Buta absent

While the Portuguese sat out Tuesday’s session due to illness, the midfield dynamos were back on the grass as preparations for Union got under way.

“Starting the new week with vigour,” declared head coach Dino Toppmöller as he stepped onto the training pitches at Deutsche Bank Park on Tuesday morning. With 14 outfield players and three goalkeepers, Eintracht began preparations for this Saturday’s meeting at home to 1. FC Union Berlin (30 March, 15:30 CET).

Among the group was Ellyes Skhiri, who had been training individually lately. As well as the eight internationals, Aurélio Buta was absent due to illness. Hugo Larsson, who had to travel back from the Swedish national team with a slight thigh problem last week, was on the pitch but worked individually. U21 talents Jakob Bookjans and Phinees Bonianga were also involved.

There’ll be one session each day up until Saturday’s match against Union at Deutsche Bank Park, which signals the start of the final spurt of the 2023/24 season.
