“We want to be courageous”

Oliver Glasner highlights Frankfurt’s defensive strength ahead of Sunday’s clash with Bayern but is determined not to spend the whole game on the back foot.

Oliver Glasner on…

…the game in Munich: “It’ll be a very difficult task, but we’ll give Bayern a proper fight. That’s our objective. On a positive note we’ve only conceded five goals in seven matches, so we’re doing a lot of things well defensively – very well in some cases. I'm absolutely certain that every player who plays in Munich will give his best for Eintracht Frankfurt and will have our complete faith. We're not going to Munich to make it a tight match, but to win. I say that with full conviction and I want to see that in the players' eyes.”

…personnel: “The game against Antwerp was very physical. There are a few doubts for the trip to Munich. Chris Lenz and Evan Ndicka are definitely out. Erik Durm has a slim chance. Makoto Hasebe is feeling yesterday’s game more than others and Martin Hinteregger was suffering with circulation problems yesterday. We’ll have our final training session tomorrow and confirm our squad then.”

We're not going to Munich to make it a tight match, but to win.

Head coach Oliver Glasner

…Eintracht finding their feet: “We were forced to make a few personnel changes and we’ve hardly had any time to train. Training and playing time is exactly what we need to find our feet and get to know each other better. We’ve initiated that process and we’re currently in the middle of it.”

…Bayern’s style of play: “ FC Bayern have it all: individually on the wings, in the centre of defence, the best goalkeeper in the world, the best striker in the world, the best holding midfield pair that I know, and a coach with the full range of skills. It’s a difficult task and hard to say what we’ll focus on. We need total concentration and we’ll have to support each other at all times to match them – or preferably outnumber them – in the tackle. We don’t want to defend all game but be courageous when it comes to taking our chances.”
