Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover 96 have agreed terms on the transfer of Simon Falette. The 28-year-old had already spent the second half of the 2019/20 season on loan at Fenerbahce in Istanbul. Prior to that, he had made 43 appearances for the Eagles across two-and-a-half seasons, with highlights coming in the UEFA Europa League against Benfica (2-0) and the two-legged semi-final against Chelsea.
Perhaps his peak at Eintracht came in the first season after his move in summer 2017 from Metz, when he made 27 Bundesliga appearances and also picked up a DFB Cup winners medal. Falette’s contract was due to run out on 30 June 2021, but now he is making the move to Hannover 96, who currently sit second in Bundesliga 2 after three matchdays.
“Simon Falette was an important member of the squad, both on and off the pitch,” said sporting director Bruno Hübner. “He had a very positive attitude and that was a welcome addition to the team as a whole. There’s no doubting his qualities as a player but due to the strong competition for places we have, he’s not been able to display them regularly. We would like to wish Simon all the very best for this next stage in his career in Hanover.”
